Three Games Up North On Deck For Women’s Hockey

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Having not playing a game in nearly two-weeks, and on the course of a six-game losing streak, the Davenport women's hockey team (6-6) looks to head into the Christmas break on a high note. The Panthers will head up north Friday night for three non-conference games, as they visit Division II teams Central Michigan on Friday night, and Northern Michigan Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
 
Game 1
Vs. Central Michigan University (1-5-0)

Scouting Central Michigan (1-5-0)
 
Central Michigan comes into Friday night's match with a 1-5-0 record in CCWHA DII play, their lone win coming against Lake Superior State on October 5th. Since that victory, the Chippewas have dropped four straight, losing by a combined score of 4-26. Olivia Soumis leads Central Michigan with four points, all coming from her team-high four goals. Aimee Baier and Abbi Pollack are tied for the teams lead in assists with two a piece. Cecilia Anscomb handles the duties between the net, netting a .734 save percentage and a 5.50 goals against average.

Scouting Northern Michigan (7-1-1)
 
Northern Michigan holds a 7-1-1 record on the season, with their only loss coming to Rainey River Community College back on Oct. 26th. The Wildcats have been out of action since November 15-16, where they tied one and won one against Michigan State's DII team. Leading the way for Northern Michigan is Sierra Rusinek, who leads the Wildcats with 19 points, 11 assists, and is second in goals scored with eight. Kendall Turro leads the team with nine goals, and is second in total points with 14. Jenna Bales (5-0-1) and Brianna Bangle (2-1-0) both have come up huge for Nothern Michigan between the net, posting a combined .948 save percentage between the two.
 
CCWHA Outlook
 
Defending national champion Miami (OH) University still sits atop the CCWHA standings with 29 points and a 14-0-1 record. Miami (OH) is nine points above Robert Morris, who sits at second place with a 10-4-0 record. Although Davenport is tied with Michigan State with 12 points apiece, the Panthers are sixth in the standings after dropping their last six games.
