Panthers to Host #DUTweetit Wednesday
The women's basketball team will host their version of the #DUTweetit Game against UM-Dearborn next Wednesday, with Andre Perry, Dean of Urban Education, and last year's women's basketball graduate
Emily Nielsen as the hosts. Fans will be able to send tweets to @DUAthletics and @DU_WBB to enter trivia contests throughout the game including the four media timeouts. There will be a combination contest between Twitter and or Instagram that will allow students to go on a Scavenger Hunt throughout the Student Center and if they post all five pictures while tagging @DUAthletics, they will receive a special basketball shirt from the marketing department and many more.
Make it Eight Straight WHAC Trophies!
After clinching a win over crosstown rival Aquinas at the Student Center last Saturday, Davenport has clinched at least a share of its eighth consecutive WHAC regular-season trophy. With a four game lead over second-place Cornerstone and Siena Heights with as many left on the schedule, Davenport can claim the title outright and secure home court advantage in the WHAC Tournament with a win OR a Golden Eagle AND Saint loss.
A Quick Look at Concordia
The Cardinals have won five of their last seven games but have recently suffered a 61-46 road defeat to Cornerstone last Saturday. Brooke Adams, the NAIA Division II's leading scorer with an average of 24.8 points per game, scored 21 at the Golden Eagles while Becca Sabol went to the glass 14 times to lead the Cardinals in that department. Despite being ranked fifth in the league in scoring defense (67.0), Concordia is second in defensive field goal percentage (.354).
The Last Time vs. Concordia
Tiesha Stokes had 20 points and nine rebounds,
Brittany Johnson had a career-high 17 points and eight rebounds as the duo led Davenport to two major runs in the first half to run away with an 85-44 victory over Concordia at the Student Center on Jan. 8. While shooting 42.4 from the field and out-rebounding the Cardinals (6-10, 3-9 WHAC) 51-29, the Panthers defense tallied 18 steals and tied their season-high in forcing turnovers with 32.
