ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Davenport women's hockey team closed out its inaugural regular-season with a 6-2 setback at the University of Michigan Saturday afternoon.
Chantal Caraher scored her 19
th goal of the season and
Catie O'Connor net the first of her career to lead the effort for DU. With the regular season complete, both teams will head to Flint, Mich., for the Central Collegiate Women's Hockey Association playoffs. The Panthers are waiting to see who they face in pool play Friday at 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
The Wolverines (14-10-3, 11-3-3 CCWHA) got on the board 1:54 into the game with a goal by Jennifer Cusmano, who went onto score again at 7:44 and complete the hat trick 11:18 into the second period.
After trailing 2-0 at the first intermission, the Panthers cut the deficit to one with Caraher's goal at 5:43. Caraher left the puck for Adams in the back of the net, Adams connected to Caraher in front of the net for the shot into the open net.
With the Panthers on the power play midway through the third period,
Caitlin Harrison won the faceoff on the right side circle in the Wolverines zone. O'Connor fired a top shelf shot over her blocker and into the goal.
