Women’s Hockey Plays Three Games in Two Days to Open CCWHA Playoffs

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – With the inaugural regular-season complete, the Davenport women's hockey team now heads to Flint, Mich., where they will be playing three games in nearly 48 hours for pool play in the Central Collegiate Women's Hockey Association playoffs. The Panthers and Robert Morris (Ill.) will be the first team to take the ice Friday at 9 a.m. and DU will have a few hours of rest Michigan in game two at 4:30 p.m. Davenport finishes its portion of pool play against Michigan State Saturday at 10 a.m.

About the CCWHA Playoffs
The top eight teams in the CCWHA standings were eligible to participate in the playoffs. The eight teams were divided into two pools. Davenport is in Pool B with Robert Morris, Michigan and Michigan State while the other pool, A, will have regular-season champion Miami (Ohio), Adrian and Grand Valley State. The top finishers in the two pools will play Saturday at 7 p.m. and the championship game will take place Sunday at 9:30 a.m.

The Panthers are coming off a pair of road defeats to Michigan last weekend to close out the regular season. Davenport battled in game one but the Wolverine ran away to a 6-3 victory. Michigan got on the board early and held on to win game two 6-2 less than 24 hours later. Chantal Caraher and Lexie Boydston both scored a pair of goals in the series to lead the effort for the Panthers. Catie O'Connor had both her first collegiate goal and an assist over the weekend while Caitlin Harrison was credited two assists.
