Game Notes | The DAN | Live Stats

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Two of the hottest women's basketball teams in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference meet at the Student Center on the national spotlight as No. 2 Davenport and No. 15 Siena Heights close the book on the regular season as the NAIA Game of the Week Saturday at 1 p.m. While the Panthers have secured their eighth straight WHAC regular-season championship and home court advantage in the league tournament, they are still looking to add on to the 22-game win streak to build their resume for the national tournament seeding.

A Quick Look at Siena Heights
The Saints are perhaps the hottest team in the WHAC, having won 18 of their last 19 games. They are currently on an eight-game win streak including a 75-63 road win over Lourdes Wednesday. Sierra Calhoun, Siena Heights' leading scorer, collected 20 points and seven rebounds to lead the team against the Gray Wolves. Like the Panthers, the Saints have been one of the best defensive teams in the WHAC, allowing 58 points per game and holding opponents to a 33.6 percent field goal percentage.

The Last Time vs. Siena Heights
Davenport had to dig itself out of a huge hole in the last meeting against Siena Heights back in December. Trailing 31-19, four different players finished with nine points as Davenport rallied from a late 11 points deficit to come back and win 55-51. Linnea Brandholm had a team leading six rebounds to go along with her nine points while Kia Frazier dished out a game high five assists.

Looking into the Crystal Ball
If the regular-season were to end before Saturday's game, top-seed Davenport would be hosting Madonna in the opening round of the WHAC Tournament Feb. 27. The conference takes the top eight in the standings into the tournament. Siena Heights is holding on to a one-game lead over Cornerstone for the second seed and would host Concordia, the Golden Eagles has a one-game lead over fourth-place Indiana Tech and would welcome Northwestern Ohio while the Warriors would open tournament play against Aquinas, which owns a tiebreaker with the Racers for fifth seed. Whichever school either wins the tournament OR at least reaches the final round should Davenport advance that far will receive the conference's second automatic bid to the NAIA Division II Tournament.
