KISSIMMEE, Fla. – In their opening match of the spring break trip to Florida, the women's tennis team fell victim to one of the top teams in the country as they fell 9-0 to No. 8 Northwood (Fla.). It marked their first of four matches this week against teams ranked inside the Top-25 as they will return to action on Monday against Webber International at 4 p.m.
The women's tennis team had a rough start to their annual trip to Florida for spring break as they lost to Northwood University (Fla.) 9-0. DU fell behind 3-0 in doubles play as they took only seven games in the three matches and then turned to singles where just one match went more than the minimum two sets.
Alyssa Fuentes won the opening set at No. 1- 7-6 (6) but then fell 6-2, 10-6. The remaining matches were all decided in straight sets.
DU, ranked No. 24 in the country, will face Webber International on Monday at 4 p.m.
