KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The spring season is officially underway for the nationally ranked women's tennis team and they played most likely their toughest competition of the year on Sunday as Western Michigan posted an 6-1 win over the Panthers. The lone win for DU came from freshman Puck Luttikhuis at No. 3 singles as she won 6-4, 7-5. DU will return to action on February 14 when they host Hope College.

The women's tennis team got their spring schedule started against one of the top NCAA DI teams in the state of Michigan and the Broncos of Western Michigan proved that on Sunday.

Western Michigan took six of the seven matches (NCAA D1 scoring) to win 6-1 while DU got their lone point from Puck Luttikhuis at No. 3 singles. Luttikhuis won 6-4, 7-6 (5).

WMU dropped only four games in the other eight matches while improving their record to 5-2 on the season. DU, now 2-2 in dual matches, will host Hope College on Friday and will also face Ferris State and Rochester before their annual spring trip to Florida.
