GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Davenport posted two impressive wins on Saturday as they defeated No. 21 Marian (Ind.) 6-3 in the morning before turning around in the afternoon and posting a 5-4 victory over No.20 Cardinal Stritch. The pair of wins lift the Panthers to 12-4 on the season as they have now won nine consecutive matches overall. DU will return to action in two weeks with contests against Huntington, Indiana Wesleyan and Taylor all in Indiana.
In the opening match of the day, Davenport took a 2-1 lead after doubles and never looked back as they built a 6-1 lead four matches into singles to cruise to the 6-3 win. DU won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles (

Emily Spiech), 8-4 at No. 3 (
Montserrat Elizondo/
Kristi Kuzdal).
In singles, the Panthers got wins from Fuentes at No. 1 (6-2.6-1), Spiech at No. 2 (6-1, 6-2),
Puck Luttikhuis at No. 3 (6-4. 6-3) and
Kristi Kuzdal at No. 4 (6-2, 6-4).
Turning right around to face another stiff competition in the No. 20 ranked Cardinal Stritch Wolves, Davenport got out to a 2-1 lead and it could have been 3-0 but the Wolves scratched out a come from behind win at No. 2 doubles to stay within striking distance. The Panthers got doubles' wins from

Needing only three wins in singles to secure the win, DU got two quick points from
Alyssa Fuentes at No. 1 (7-6, 6-2) and
Puck Luttikhuis at No. 3 (6-2, 6-0) and then got the clinching win from
Emily Spiech at No. 2 (6-2, 1-6, 6-2).
The win is the ninth in a row for the Panthers.
Davenport will have a two-week break before resuming action in Indiana with three matches scheduled at Huntington, Indiana Wesleyan and Taylor on April 4-5.
