MARION, Ind. – A pair of late first half goals from
Dino Duratovic and
TJ Ifaturoti proved to be the difference as the No. 21 men's soccer team improved to 5-0-0 on the season with a 4-1 win over Bethel College (Ind.). The Panthers also got a pair of tallies from Dzenan Catic as DU now turns their attention to the host team, Indiana Wesleyan, which they will play tomorrow at 7 p.m.
The record-setting start to the season keeps getting better for the men's soccer team as they posted another impressive win over a quality Bethel College side on Friday afternoon.
After a scoreless first 30 minutes, the Panthers finally broke through on a goal from senior
Dino Duratovic while Dzenan Catic picked up the assist. Then just 1:04 later,
TJ Ifaturoti scored on an assist from
Emmanuel Gorh and that tally would turn out to be the game winner.
Bethel did get on the board with a late score in the first half but Dzenan Catic put some distance between DU and the Pilots with two goals midway through the second for the final scores of the contest. The goals were the seventh and eighth of the season for the junior midfielder.
Alex Ghattas posted five saves in net for the Panthers while allowing just the single goal as the senior improves to 4-0 on the season.
Davenport will be in action next against the host for the weekend, Indiana Wesleyan. Match time is set for 7 p.m. on Saturday night.
