A Quick Look at ValpoThe Valpo women's tennis program begins fall play Saturday, Sept. 20th at Aquinas College where the Crusaders will face the Saints before taking on the Davenport Panthers in the back end of a doubleheader. In 2013-14, Valparaiso (2-22, 1-7 Horizon) finished eighth in the final Horizon League standings; missing the league tournament.
A Look Back at 2013-14 – Duel MatchesThe Panthers advanced to their second straight NAIA National Tournament with an overall record of 23-5. DU did not lose a single match on their home courts at Farmers Insurance Athletics Complex as they went 7-0. The Panthers return four of their top six players from a year ago in
Alyssa Fuentes,
Emily Spiech,
Marcie Kooyers and
Angelica Woods.
Success at the ITA'sDavenport had another successful run in the USTA/ITA regional in which they played host to for the second consecutive season. The doubles tandem of
Alyssa Fuentes and
Emily Spiech won their open flight to advance to the Small College Nationals while
Angelica Woods and
Montserrat Elizondo won the back draw in doubles.
Fall Schedule RemainingThe match with Valpo will be the first duel match of the fall season for head coach
Patrick Grashorn and DU will follow with three more head to head matchups with Taylor (9/26), Lake Superior State (9/27) and Grand Valley State (10/11).
