Fremont, Neb. – The Davenport women's hockey team kicked off their second season as a program in Fremont, Nebraska Friday night as they squared off against Midland University.
Lexie Boydston led the Panthers in goals scored by recording the third hat trick of her collegiate career as Davenport blanked Midland 10-0.

Boydston was the first to put Davenport on the board as her first goal came just a minute into the game, and her second at 8:34.
Halle Hayes set up both of Boydston's gals in the period, as those two assists led the Panthers on the night.

Davenport never let up as
Darian Adams,
Catie O'Connor, and
Megan Martin all recorded goals in the 1
st period to go along with Boydston's two, and sent the Panthers into the first intermission with a 5-0 lead.

The 2
nd period started off with
Chantal Caraher joined the scoring party as she took an assist from Adams at 11:13 to put Davenport up 6-0. O'Connor then found the back of the net for the second time of the night with just 34 seconds left in the period as the Panthers now found themselves up 7-0 over the Warriors heading into the second intermission.

Following Boydston's third goal of the night,
Jenny Deane and
Laken Kunz also recorded goals for the Panthers as Kunz's goal was assisted by
Megan Martin with 1:41 left to go in the game.

Victoria Smishek was spectacular between the posts as she recorded her first career shutout on 18 Midland shots. Davenport nearly tripled the amount of Midland shots, as they put up 45 of their own.

Davenport stays in Fremont this Saturday as they play game 2 of the series against the Warriors with the puck dropping at 1 p.m.
