, Oct. 10 – at Ohio State – 5 p.m. (University Ice Rink) Fremont, Neb. – For the second consecutive game, The Davenport women's hockey team struck first and kept Midland out of the net for the fourth straight period dating back to yesterday's Game 1 of the series. Midland finally scored their first goal the season 12 minutes into the second period, but was unable to hold off the Panthers fierce attack as Davenport took Game Two of the series with a score of 5-1.
Catie O'Connor led the way for Davenport as she recorded her first career hat-trick in the victory, and Lexie Boydston continued her assult on Warrior defenders as she scored two more goals to go along with her total of five on the weekend.
Coming out of the first intermission, the Warriors cut the deficit to 1 as Aldrid scored with 11:08 left in the 2nd period. The Panthers were unable to find the back of the net in the 2nd period and went into the second intermission with a 2-1 lead.
The Panthers were in a bit of a shock with the outcome of the game through the first two periods, but rallied through the third period and recieved two more goals from O'Connor, and another from Boydston late in the third period.
"We came out a bit slow today after the lopsided win last night." Head Coach
Tom Hofman said of his team following Saturday's 5-1 victory. "Midland did a great job making adjustments for today's game, and they pressured us into some poor decisions in the first two periods. Coach Megan and I are happy with the effort in the third period and are looking forward to another week of practice to iron out some system things."
Caitlin Nosanov took the reigns in front of the net for the Panthers, and only allowed one goal on 37 shots taken by the Warriors. Davenport outshot Midland with 49 shots of their own.Â

"We set a goal to leave Nebraska 2-0 and the girls accompolished that." Coach Hofman said. "The teams won't get any easier as we will be traveling to Ohio State in two weeks."
The Panthers will head to Columbus for another two game series with the Buckeyes on October 11th & 12th.
