Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After dropping the first game of the weekend on Friday, the Davenport women's hockey team looked to split the weekend series, but Michigan was able to score five consecutive goals to beat the Panthers 6-2.
Tara Boliard and
Samantha Rogers scored the only goals for Davenport. DU will conclude their regular season next weekend.as they have a home-and-home series against Adrian.
Michigan picked up where they left off on Friday as they scored the first goal of the game just 1:56 into the game, but the Panthers were able to come right back as
Tara Boliard was able to put Davenport on the board, while
Darian Adams and Chantel Caraher grabbed the assists on goal. The Wolverines were able to regain the momentum with 13:11 left in the first period as they scored on the power play, and they scored their third goal of the period on a another power play to take a 3-1 lead into the first intermission.
The Wolverines continued to roll in the second period as they took a three goal lead with 11:14 left in the second period and they were able scored their fifth goal of the game with 6:35 remaining in the period to take a 5-1 lead. The Lady Panthers had a couple close chances to cut into the lead, but they were unable to convert as they trailed 5-1 after two periods.
In the third period, Michigan extended their lead to five goals with 11:30 left in the game, but
Samantha Rogers was able to score for the Panthers to bring the lead back within four, but Davenport could not come any closer as they lost Michigan 6-2.
The Lady Panthers will conclude the regular season next weekend with a home-and-home series against Adrian starting on Thursday in Adrian, Mich.
