GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The DU women's soccer team took on Lawrence Tech Wednesday evening as the Panthers looked to take their first WHAC match of the season. The Panthers took the early edge as
Alayna Hilgendorf tallied the go ahead goal in the 28
th minute.
Shameeka Fishley then scored the game-winning goal right after as she scored from Hilgendorf in the 29
th minute to send the Panthers to a 4-7-1 overall record with a 1-5 mark in the WHAC.
The Panthers controlled the ball for the entire match with 11 shots in the first and six in the second with 10 shots on goal to bombard the Blue Devils. Hilgendorf had a match-high seven shots, including five shots on goal, on her way to a four-goal performance. She would add to her initial goal in the first with three second half goals to push the Panthers away from striking distance and bring her season total up to six s scores. This four-goal performance is tied for second most in a game in Panther women's soccer history.
Tara Gessler earned the decision in goal with three saves in just over 81 minutes of action.
Beth Ledger replaced Gessler for 8:40 of game time and she recorded one save while keeping the Blue Devils at a single score.
