CHELSEA, Mich. - The Davenport women's hockey team fell 4-0 at Michigan State on Sunday afternoon in a game that saw the Panthers have just nine healthy skaters (18 maximum) and simply not enough depth to prevent 69 shots on goal. MSU scored twice in the second and third as Lyndsay Oden scored once in each of those periods. She scored at 5:00 of the second from Kara Scaturro and Alexis Smith. Then she scored on the power play at 17:28 of the third from Ashley Astor. Amanda Anderson and Scaturro also scored for the Spartans.
"We played as solid as we could with nine skaters," said head coach
Tom Hofman. "We had a lot of chances early in the game but just couldn't capitalize. Playing with two lines forced us to be smart with the puck and we saw that today. The effort the team showed proves how much passion they have for this game and each other. The holiday week off will be very beneficial for our health."
