GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Davenport heads into its second week of the season with a pair of tough matchups against NAIA DII Top 25 teams this weekend at the Crossroads League/WHAC Classic hosted by Huntington University. The Panthers will take on No. 17 Huntington University Friday night at 8 p.m. and follow that matchup with a game against No. 20 University of Saint Francis Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.

Panthers vs. ForestersWhile this will be the third meeting between the Panthers and Foresters, this will be the first matchup in Huntington, Indiana. The teams met for the first time in Sioux City, Iowa in the NAIA National Tournament with the Panthers taking the game 72-56 back in 2009. The Panthers most recently beat the Foresters a season ago when Huntington fell at the hands of DU, 77-58, in the Student Center. Each team will enter the matchup just one game into the season as they look to improve their national standing. The Panthers (0-1) enter the game following a close loss to No. 11 Cardinal Stritch while the Foresters (1-0) slipped past Holy Cross in overtime.

The Last Time They MetDavenport took down the Foresters last season by a 77-58 score in the Student Center. Senior
Daina Grazulis led the Panthers with 21 points and six rebounds. DU carried a 32-24 halftime lead over the 1-0 Foresters and pulled away in the second half by taking a 45-34 margin as Grazulis scored 11 points in the second stanza to advance DU to 2-0 on the season.

Panthers vs. CougarsDU is 3-1 all-time against Saint Francis and has taken out the Cougars in each of the last two matchups. DU beat the Cougars in their only road matchup with St. Francis by an 82-63 score back on Nov. 10, 2007.

The Last Time They MetThe Panthers won 59-46 in the last matchup with the Cougars on Dec. 19, 2014. St. Francis came into the game ranked No. 8, but DU was able to take the victory behind
Daina Grazulis as she recorded a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds.

DU Following a LossThe Panthers fell to No. 11 Cardinal Stritch, 67-62, in their first game of 2015-16. DU is 41-16 all-time following a loss as they look to rebound against Huntington Friday night. DU last lost their opening game of a season on Nov. 6, 2009 when they fell to No. 4 Hastings College. The Panthers responded to that setback with a 78-64 victory over No. 1 Morningside in their next game.Â

Panthers vs. NAIA Top 25DU is 60-28 all-time against the NAIA DII Top 25. The Panthers will play a pair of games this weekend against ranked opponents and will look to continue this success of winning 68 percent of the time against nationally ranked opponents. Prior to this season, DU won its last road matchup with a ranked team as they took out No. 18 Siena Heights last season, 71-52, in Adrian, Michigan.Â
