GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The men's Division III hockey team faced a talented Aquinas squad in a home-and-home series this weekend with the Saints winning both games. The Saints won 10-4 on home ice on Friday night and then Davenport fell 6-0 at home on Saturday.
The Saints peppered
Andrew Habasevich all night on Friday with 68 shots on net. Habasevich had 18 saves in the first, 25 in the second and 15 in the third. Davenport managed 20 shots on goal and put four away against PJ Nemish.
Jacob Blok gave Davenport a 1-0 lead from
Josh Riemersma and
Bailey Rietman. The Saints scored the next four goals including power play goals by Billy Warren and Brendan Giffel.
Skyler Emelander cut the deficit to 4-2 at the 1:13 mark of the second from Rietman and Riemersma.
Nick Scott scored early in the third and then later in the period for the Panthers. Nathan Aloisio scored a hat trick for the Saints.
The Saints earned a 6-0 win on Saturday as Matt Glowacki stopped all 14 shots in the shutout. Habasevich was not as busy but still made 34 saves for the Panthers. Cody Edwards scored a pair of goals for Aquinas. Doug Zelenka scored the first goal and assisted on two more.Â
