SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The No. 2 Davenport women's basketball team's season came down to one possession with 6.7 seconds left, but the inbound pass was intercepted by Briar Cliff and the No. 19 Chargers were able to hold on and edge the top-seeded Panthers 55-53 in the second round of the NAIA Division II Tournament Friday morning.
 
Davenport exits the Tyson Events Center and closes the book on the 2014-15 season 32-1.

In a physical matchup between two schools who have met in the tournament three times now, the Panthers never led throughout the contest.
 
One of the differences in the game was the shooting for Davenport, which shot 31.7 percent from the field but went a cold 4-for-31 on the 3-point line.
 
Tiesha Stokes led the effort for the Panthers scoring 17 points and collected seven rebounds off the bench but her services were ended as she fouled out with 4:42 left in the second period. Daina Grazulis had a double-double of a dozen points and 11 rebounds and Alex Law played a key role for the Panthers as she scored 10 points including three from beyond the arc.
 
Free throws was the actual difference in the game as the Chargers went 26-for-38 on the charity stripe, including 21 in the first half. Briar Cliff was held to a 28.6 shooting percentage with Slone Masters scoring 15 points.
 
Briar Cliff trailed by as many as a dozen with 6:33 left, but Davenport rallied back and went into the locker room trialing 36-28. The Panthers got the deficit as close as two points multiple times.

Davenport falls to 17-11 in the NAIA Division II Tournament…Briar Cliff evens the all-time series 2-2 after winning the last two contests at the Tyson Events Center.
