GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport women's tennis team started their WHAC slate on Friday evening as they hosted Concordia at the MVP Sportsplex. The Panthers were able to sweep the Cardinals, 9-0, as Davenport only dropped one game throughout the match. DU is now 5-4 on the season and will be back in action on March 21st when they travel to Indianapolis, Ind., to face Cardinal Stritch at 1 p.m.
The Panthers were able to gain early momentum as
Alyssa Fuentes and
Emily Spiech grabbed an 8-1 win at doubles number one, which saw the only game Davenport dropped throughout the evening. The duo of
Puck Luttikhuis and
Marcie Kooyers, along with the team of
Angelica Woods and
Montserrat Elizondo capped off doubles with a pair of 8-0 wins.
In singles, the Panthers continued to roll as they took all six matches by the score 6-0, 6-0, to cap off their second 9-0 win in as many matches to move to 5-4 on the season. The Lady Panthers also picked up their first WHAC win of the season, and will not be back in WHAC play until March 25th, when they host Lawrence Tech.
Next up for the Lady Panthers is a match against Cardinal Stritch on March 21st in Indianapolis, Ind., played on the campus of Marian (Ind.).
