GRANDVILLE, Mich. – The Davenport women's tennis team started their busy three match week on Thursday night as they traveled to Grandville to face Grand Valley State at Ramblewood Tennis Courts. The Panthers fell behind early and could not recover as they lost to the Lakers 9-0. The Lady Panthers will be back in action this week as they travel to Indianapolis, Ind., to face Cardinal Stritch and Marian (Ind.) on Saturday and Sunday.
To start the match, Davenport fell behind early as they dropped all three doubles matches to Grand Valley State.
Alyssa Fuentes and Emily Speich tried to battle back at doubles number one, but dropped the match 8-6, while the Panthers lost doubles two and three, 8-3 and 8-0, respectively.
Davenport tried to battled back in singles play, as the first three singles matches went to three sets, but the Panthers were unable to squeak out a win as they fell behind in the match 6-0. Grand Valley State was able win final three matches in straight sets to win the match 9-0.
The Panthers fall to 5-5 on the season and will be back in action this action weekend down in Indianapolis, Ind., where they will face Cardinal Stritch and Marian (Ind.).
