GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Davenport women's lacrosse team was back in action on Friday evening as they took on Asbury (Ky.), in the first game of their three game in three day stretch.
Taylor Balch led the Panthers with six goals and three assists as the Panthers were able beat the Eagles, 22-3. Davenport will be back in action on Saturday afternoon as they face Georgetown (Ky.) at noon at Toyota Stadium in Georgetown, Ky.
This is the second time this season that Balch recorded a nine point game, with the first time coming against Ave Maria (Fla.) in the first game of the season for the Panthers.
Sara Kuzava and
Jessica Lemcke each tallied five goals apiece, while
Tara Pluger was the final Panther to record a hat-trick as she scored three goals against the Eagles.
After Kuzava tallied her first goal of the game 1:03 into the game on free position shot, the game turned into a stalemate for over ten minutes, until Asbury tied the game 1-1, with 17:01 left in the first half, but the Panthers were able to go on 6-0 run to take a 7-1 lead with 12:58 left in the first half. Davenport closed the half on a 7-1 run to take a 14-2 lead into the half.
The Panthers continued to control the game as they scored the first three goals of the second half, all scored by different players, as DU took 17-2 lead with 22:40 left in regulation. Asbury scored their final goal of the game 1:55 later, but Davenport was able to score the final five goals of the game to beat Asbury, 22-3.
Davenport will be back in action on Saturday afternoon as they face No. 4 Georgetown (Ky.) at noon at Toyota Stadium in Georgetown, Ky., in a battle of top five teams in the NWLL.
