MIDLAND, Mich. – The Davenport women's tennis team was back in action on Sunday afternoon as they traveled to the east side of the state to face NCAA DII foe, Saginaw Valley State. The Panthers fell behind in doubles and were unable to comeback as they lost, 7-2. The Lady Panthers will be back in action on Tuesday as they host another GLIAC foe in Ferris State at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex at 6 p.m.
In doubles,
Alyssa Fuentes and
Emily Spiech grabbed the only win for the Panthers at doubles one, by the score of 9-8. The Panthers were unable to grab another win in doubles as they trailed 2-1 heading into singles.
The Cardinals continued to control the match as they continued to pull away from the Panthers as they won five of the singles matches.
Puck Luttikhuis won at singles two for Davenport, 6-4, 6-7, 10-2. Saginaw Valley won four of the five matches in straight sets as the Panthers lost 7-2.
Davenport will return to action on Tuesday as they host Ferris State at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex at 6 p.m.
