Tennis Returns to Action with Three Road Matches in Two Days

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After playing three matches apiece down in Florida to get their spring seasons in full swing, the Davenport men and women's tennis team will have another busy weekend as they will play three matches in two days. Davenport will play St. Francis (Ill.) and Olivet Nazarene on Friday before they face Calumet College of St. Joseph on Saturday morning.

After the women's tennis team went 1-2 in Florida to start their spring season the Lady Panthers stayed at 12th in the NAIA top-25 polls after dropping their first two matches two No. 8 Northwood (Fla.) and NCAA DI foe Oakland, but Davenport wrapped up the trip with 9-0 win over Webber International (Fla.). Davenport is now 3-3 overall on the season and will face one team who is receiving votes, in Olivet Nazarene, on their trip to Illinois and Indiana.

The men's team was able to get on the winning track down in Florida as they won their last two matches against NCAA DII foe Chestnut Hill College and they were able to pull an upset against No. 25 Webber International (Fla.) to move to 4-4 on the season. After going 2-1 in Florida, with their only loss coming against No. 15 Northwood (Fla.), the Panthers were able to move up into the receiving votes section of this week's NAIA polls. Davenport will face one top-25 team over the weekend against No. 24 Olivet Nazarene.

Both tennis teams will have another busy week as they travel to Illinois on Friday to play two matches in one day before they head to Indiana on Saturday to play their third match in just two days.
