GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport women's tennis team concluded their three match week on Saturday afternoon against Huntington (Ind.). The Panthers were able to beat the Foresters, 8-1, to move to 11-9 on the season. The Lady Panthers will return to action on Tuesday as they host Spring Arbor (Mich.), at 4 p.m. at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex.
In doubles, the Panthers were able to take of the match in the early going as the
Alyssa Fuentes and
Puck Luttikhuis took the first doubles match, 8-4, and
Montserrat Elizondo and
Bridget Barrett followed up at doubles two with an 8-0 win.
Angelica Woods and
Marcie Kooyers rounded out doubles play with an 8-2 win in the third and finals double match to give the Panthers a 3-0 lead.
Huntington started out singles with a three set win at singles one, but the Panthers were able to rebound as they took four of the final five matches in straight sets, while Elizondo was able to grab a three set win at singles three. Davenport did not drop a single game in singles four, five and six.
The Lady Panthers will have their final non-conference regular season game of the year on Tuesday as they host Spring Arbor (Mich.) at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex at 4 p.m.
