GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Panthers opened up their 2015 campaign Thursday night with a home matchup against the No. 25 Mount Vernon Nazarene University Cougars. The teams traded even play through the first 45 minutes as they each tallied two shots on goal. The Panthers saw a greaet scoring chance sail just wide as Taylor Genzink watched her ball miss the target from inside the box. The teams would continue this tight play into the second half as the match reached the closing minute. The visiting Cougars put on a late charge as the looked to take the game in the final minute when a bouncing ball inside the box resulted in the game-winning header with only seven seconds remaining to stun the Panthers.

Davenport totaled five shots for the match and goalkeeper Tara Gessler (0-1) recorded four saves as the Panthers fell to 0-1 overall in 2015.
