GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The exploits of
Jordan Crawford and his teammates gave the men's Division III hockey team a 7-0 win over Butler on Saturday in the first meeting between the two teams. The Bulldogs did not have an answer for the Panthers especially in the late stages of the second and entire third period. Crawford scored all three of his goals in the third including a short-handed tally. He scored 30 seconds into the period from
Hunter Ellens. The short-handed goal came from
Zach Schwandt and
Andrew Habasevich at 7:26. He also concluded the scoring at 18:57 from
Nick Scott and
Cam Morris.
Bailey Rietman and Morris gave Davenport a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes. Schwandt and
Skyler Emelander assisted on Rietman's goal. Scott and
Isaac Lippert assisted on Morris' goal. Emelander scored the team's fifth goal at 8:49 from Ellens. Chris Heath scored the sixth goal at 15:56 from
Justin Crawford and Morris who finished with three points.
Jack Sigman made 31 saves for Butler while Habasevich made 29 saves in the shutout for DU.
