EAST KENTWOOD, Mich. – The women's hockey team tightened the screws on defense and completed a weekend sweep of Ohio State with a 2-0 win on Saturday. The Panthers have won four straight to increase their record to 8-11-1 on the season.
Newcomer
Emily Ellis scored the game-winning goal at 5:18 of the second period.
Lexie Boydston added the insurance goal at 2:54 of the third. Both goals were unassisted.
Emily Ciborek made a total of 51 saves for the Buckeyes.
Dawn Salo posted her third shutout of the season improving to 5-4 in net. She made 28 saves in the win.
"We are very pleased with the outcome of the games this weekend," said head coach
Tom Hofman. "We set a goal of earning all four points this weekend. It's great to see the girls get rewarded for all their hard work. We need to continually get better every week as our playoffs loom. Right now I hope they enjoy this and continue to build."
