Panthers Get Big Road Win at Lindenwood

Blake Damerow's game winning power play goal came at 14:22 of the second period

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The men's Division II hockey team picked up their biggest road win this season on Friday with a 4-3 decision at Lindenwood. The Lions are ranked No. 3 in the Central region while the Panthers are No. 5 in the region. The teams dueled back-and-forth all night and played a very well-rounded game with the Panthers getting just enough in the end with special teams a key factor. DU was 2-for-4 on the power play while LU went 0-for-6.

Zac Bodziak gave Davenport a 1-0 lead at 7:44 of the opening period. Daniel Swink scored on the power play at 11:42 from Trevor Murray and Brandon Bihn for a 2-0 advantage. The Lions came roaring back to tie the game at 2-2 in the second period. Kyle Vesling and Tyler Kubara scored and John Petersson assisted on each goal. The Panthers once again led by two goals at 4-2 after Jessee Game and Blake Damerow scored for DU. Branden Burton assisted on both goals with Damerow's game-winning power play goal at 14:22 of the second. Jake Otto assisted on the winner and also the first goal by Bodziak. Cory Johnson scored the only goal of the third period for Lindenwood from Brendan Roberts and Colin Chandler.

Christian Thompson made 38 saves in the win for Davenport. Christopher Johansen stopped 34 shots in the loss for Lindenwood. The two teams play again on Saturday at 4 p.m.
