Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LYNCHBURG, Va. - The women's hockey team traveled to Liberty University this weekend and could not muster a goal against the defending national champions. Liberty won 3-0 on Friday and followed it up with a 2-0 win on Saturday against the Panthers. The No. 1 Flames got goals from Catharine Burrell, Carrie Jickling and Chelsea Greenwood on Friday. Burrell and Jickling also assisted on two goals as Liberty scored a power play goal in the second at 10:35 and two more in the third at 5:39 and 17:31. Kelsey Ferguson stopped 32 shots for Davenport on Friday.

"Liberty is a very good team that plays well together," said head coach Tom Hofman. "Once in a great while there is a good loss. This would be one of those times. Both third period goals were scored by LU players in front of the net all alone. We need to keep our head on a swivel in the defensive zone and rush the puck up ice with all five players as a unit."

Burrell scored both goals on Saturday as Liberty improved to 14-1 overall. Davenport falls to 9-13-1 as they head back home. Niki McCombe assisted on Burrell's first goal at 18:10 of the second. Jickling and Courtney Gilmour assisted on the second goal at 0:12 of the third. Rosie Kelly stopped 13 shots in the shutout for the Flames. Ferguson made 38 saves on Saturday for the Panthers.
