KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The No. 17 Davenport women's tennis team had a pair of 9-0 wins on Tuesday during their spring break trip to Florida. In the morning they defeated Southeastern and in the afternoon defeated Warner. Southeastern entered the match ranked No. 19 but Davenport made quick work of them.
Steph Ritson and
Anne Douwes had an 8-1 win in two doubles for the first point.
Alyssa Fuentes and
Puck Luttikhuis defeated Emily Acierno and Alexis Quinn 8-4 at one doubles for the second point.
Emily Spiech and
Hannah Murphy won 8-5 at three doubles.
The Panthers took five of the six singles in straight sets highlighted by Fuentes winning 6-0, 6-1 at one singles and Ritson winning 6-1, 6-2 at four singles. Spiech dropped the first set at five singles but rallied for a three-set win (4-6, 6-3, 10-8).
The Warner match saw the Panthers lose just three games in doubles. Murphy and Spiech won 8-0 at three doubles over Thalia Roustand and Madison Burnett. Douwes and Ritson won 8-1 at two doubles. Fuentes and Luttikhuis won 8-2 at one doubles over Fernanda Correa and Paula Ordonez.
Douwes stepped up to two singles with Fuentes out of the lineup and won 6-0, 6-0 over Caitlin Ryan. Murphy stamped out a 6-1, 6-0 win at five singles over Amber Najjar.
Ashley Medcoff won 6-1, 6-4 at six singles over Burnett. The ladies are now 7-3 overall.
