GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – DU took on Lawrence Tech University Saturday afternoon in the WHAC Tournament Championship game. The Blue Devils remained hot as they followed their upset over Indiana Tech in the WHAC Tournament Semifinals with a comeback performance against the Panthers. DU took the 4-1 lead in the first half, but then surrendered the next six goals as LTU took control of the game. The Panthers were outscored 8-3 in the second half as they went on to come up short by a 11-7 final score.

Hanna Bush tallied a pair of goals while Jessica Lemcke and Brianna Longnecker each found the back of the net as DU took over the 4-1 lead early in the game. The Panthers would then see the Blue Devils find momentum late in the first half as they recorded two goals to cut the DU lead to 4-3 at the break.

LTU then would start the second half with four unanswered goals as they took over a 7-3 lead. Amber Livingston and Lemcke each tallied a goal in response to this run as the Panther continued to battle with 15 minutes remaining in the game. DU would not have an answer in the second half for the LTU attack as they took their second four-goal run and extended their lead to five scores. Brooke Knoll scored a late goal for the Panthers from Bianca Loza as DU battled until the final horn sounded, but LTU overcame the Panthers for the upset victory.

The teams played an even game as DU held the slight edge in shots on goal (23-20) while LTU held the edge in total shots (26-25). Alex Yates (2-1) made the start in goal for the Panthers and took the decision with nine saves in 60 minutes played.
