GREENVILLE, S.C. – In the final quarterfinal game of the 2016 NAIA Women's Lacrosse National Invitational, No. 4 Davenport scored seven second half goals in the second half to defeat No. 5 Indiana Tech, 13-10,Wednesday night at Sirrine Stadium.
With the win, Davenport (15-3) advances into the semifinals of the national invitational and will face top-seeded SCAD Savannah (Ga.), which defeated Benedictine (Kan.), 24-6, Friday at 1 p.m. EDT.
Davenport scored three goals, including one from the NAIA Player of the Year Brooke Knoll, in the first 5:29 of the game to take an early 3-0 lead. Indiana Tech responded with a three goal run, including two from Alexa Winter, who was announced as a First Team All-American yesterday. The two teams traded scores before Kristina Scott's goal gave the Warriors their first lead of the game, 5-4. Davenport scored two of the final three goals of the half to tie the game 6-6 at the break.
Indiana Tech held a 13-11 advantage in shots and a 7-6 advantage in draw controls in the first half.
Davenport scored three of the first four goals, including a pair from
Jessica Lemcke, to start the second half and give the Panthers a 9-7 lead with 23:14 remaining. The two teams traded goals twice, before Lemcke and Hannah Bush scored back-to-back to give Davenport a 13-9 lead. Indiana Tech added a goal in the final minute for the 13-10 final.
Lemcke registered a game-high four goals in the win for Davenport. Amber Livingston and Hanna Bush each finished with a hat trick.
