GRAYSON, Ky. - The Davenport University football team left no doubt on Saturday in their 59-0 win at Kentucky Christian for the program's first victory. The Panthers (1-1) used a stingy and opportunistic defense and a strong running game to propel them into the winner's circle.
"This was a great day for Davenport and the program," said head coach
Lou Esposito. "The guys bought into what we've said from day one and everything came together this afternoon. Our first road game and are guys handled themselves very well with a different experience. We really limited mistakes from week one and feels good to get a win in this fashion."
The Panthers scored twice in the first quarter including the first defensive touchdown of the season.
Devin Butler recovered a fumble in the end zone just over four minutes into the game and then
Mike Ivy scored from five yards out just two minutes later capping off a three-play, 41-yard drive.
Ivy scored two more times on the ground in the second quarter both on one-yard dives and
Chris Watkins had a two-yard score as it was 35-0 at the break.

J.T. Houghton then took a 24-yard interception back for six just 1:30 later for a 45-0 lead. Ivy rumbled in from eight yards later in the third for his fourth score of the game and
Daniel Walker scored the only points of the fourth quarter on a three-yard scamper with 10:30 remaining.
