Ball doesn't bounce Panthers way during third straight overtime game

CALEDONIA, Mich. – For the third straight game Davenport and their opponent needed extra time to determine a winner. During the second overtime period Davenport got an un-lucky bounce giving Tiffin an opportunity to score, which they took advantage of. The Dragons scored during the 105th minute of play to win the game. Davenport needed to comeback during regulation again, which is the second straight game they needed to do so.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Early in the game the head referee decided to eliminate physical play from the game, giving a yellow card to Imanie Richards under 90 seconds into the game. Davenport fed off Richard's aggressive play, recording two shots and two corner kicks over the next two minutes. Over the 45-minute half neither team was able to connect on a shot, creating a 0-0 tie at halftime.

Davenport remained aggressive in the second half, both on offense and defense. Two more Panthers, Roheema Bennett and Krystina Dunston, were given yellow cards in the half. The Dragons were the first team to get on the board, with a goal in the 64th minute of play. This was a goal off a rebound from a previously saved shot. Davenport was in familiar territory, where they seem to thrive and step up their game. Madeleine Zayan stepped up big down the stretch, scoring on an un-assisted effort during the 85th minute of play. She dribbled the ball all the way from the 40-yard line, with a defender on her back, and finessed a shot right past the goalie for the game tying goal. Davenport had multiple opportunities to score with under five minutes to play, but couldn't connect.

In the first overtime period Davenport recorded five shots, with none being on target. Tiffin recorded one shot on goal, goalkeeper Lorrin McCarty was able to save this shot and force a second overtime period.

The Dragons got a lucky bounce halfway through the second overtime period. A Tiffin player shot a ball at the net, L. McCarty batted the ball away from, successfully defending the net. The ball bounced right back to the same Tiffin player and she shot the ball into the left side of the net for the win.
