GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Panthers took on Robert Morris in back to back home games on Saturday and Sunday. For the third straight game Davenport was locked up at 2-2 heading into the final period of play during Saturday's game, Robert Morris scored four goals in the third to take the first game. In the second game Davenport bounced back and won 3-1 to get their first victory of the 2017-18 season.
Game 1 (Saturday, October 14th)

HOW IT HAPPENED
-In the opening period both teams scored during the 11
th minute of play.
Jaiden Forrest was the goal scorer for DU and she was assisted by
Molly Byrum. The teams would head into the second period tied 1-1.
-Again the teams scored during the same minute of play during the second period.
Lexie Boydston scored the unassisted goal for Davenport and the teams headed into the third period tied 2-2. This was the third straight game this season for DU that they went into the final period tied at two goals apiece.
-The final period was all Robert Morris as they scored four unanswered goals.
-Both Forrest and Boydston scored one goal.
-Byrum had the only assist of the game.

Julia Gaynor played all 60 minutes in net and recorded 26 saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Eagles were the first on the board in the second game of the series. Robert Morris scored with 13:41 remaining in the period on an even strength goal. Coming off a penalty kill Davenport scored in minute 11 to tie up the game. The goal was scored by
Laken Kunz and assisted by Forrest.
-The game was tied 1-1 heading into the second period, which proved to be a pivotal 20 minutes for the Panthers. Boydston scored another unassisted goal and Forrest got on the board as well to give DU a 3-1 lead. Forrest was assisted by
Emily Ellis and
Courtney Mulligan. The two goals were the last goals to be scored of the game as Davenport shutout the Eagles during both the second and third period.
-Kunz, Boydston and Forrest all had one goal.
-Forrest, Ellis and Mulligan each tallied an assist.
-
Dawn Salo got the start in net and saved 28 of the 29 shots she faced.
UP NEXT
Davenport plays three games this weekend while in Illinois. The Panthers compete against Lindenwood University-Belleville on Friday/Sunday and McKendree on Saturday.
