GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Davenport will make the drive to Northwood on Saturday for a 1 p.m. kickoff against the Timberwolves. The two teams will square off for the first time both riding the momentum of wins last week. The Panthers picked up their first victory as a provisional member of NCAA Division II with a thrilling 27-24 double overtime win over McKendree on homecoming. Northwood has won their last two games including a tough 20-10 road win at Wayne State last Saturday in Detroit. Davenport put it all together on offense for the first time this season with a school-record in rushing yards (386) and total offense (538). Haiden Majewski's first career start was a memorable one as he passed for 152 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 55 yards and another score. Freshman Jerred McGuire was named GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week after connecting on two field goals. His 23-yarder early in the fourth quarter gave DU a 3-point lead and his 41-yarder in double overtime won it. The 41-yard field goal set a school record in the process. Northwood outscored Wayne State, 13-0, in the second half en route to their win. Joe Garbarino passed for two touchdowns and ran for another as NU erased a 10-0 deficit by scoring the game's final 20 points. The T-Wolves rushed for 187 yards on 43 carries.
