Davenport completes busy weekend in Illinois

BELLEVILLE, Ill. – Davenport took on a tough weekend schedule, playing three games in three days. On Friday they played Lindenwood University-Belleville, took a short trip over to McKendree University on Saturday and then finished off the weekend back at Lindenwood University-Belleville on Sunday. This was the first time playing on the road for Davenport this season.
 
Game 1 (Friday, October 20th)
Final Score: Davenport 1, Lindenwood University-Belleville 4

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Lynx of Lindenwood University-Belleville scored the first goal of the game and backed that up with another in the 11th minute. Davenport cut the lead to one goal after Lexie Boydston netted a goal on an unassisted effort during minute 13.
-In the second period the Lynx scored a goal in the 12th minute to take a 3-1 lead. The Panthers successfully killed two power play opportunities for the Lynx and had three power plays of their own.
-The Lynx increased their lead in the third period to three goals. Davenport was unable to score another goal and lost 1-4.
-Boydston scored the only goal for DU.
-Davenport didn't record an assist this game.
-Dawn Salo was kept busy the whole night in net, recording 63 saves over 60 minutes of play.

Game 2 (Saturday, October 21st)

HOW IT HAPPENED
-McKendree scored the first goal of the game and that proved to be the game winner. The Bearcats scored in minute 10 and 15. Davenport had multiple power play opportunities in the period, including being a player up just 30 seconds into the game.
-Period two was high in action and low on scoring. Neither team scored and McKendree got whistled for an interference minor during the final minute of play.
-Davenport couldn't connect on any of their shots this game and fell 0-3 to the Bearcats.
-Julia Gaynor played all game in net and tallied 48 saves.
 
Game 3 (Sunday, October 22nd)
Final Score: Davenport 2, Lindenwood University-Belleville 9

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Lynx recorded 78 shots on goal during the game compared to eight by Davenport. The high number of scoring opportunities for the Lynx made the difference in the game. The Panthers had a good scoring percentage by scoring twice on their eight shots on goal. Ariannah Letts scored on an unassisted effort in the 18th minute of the first period. In the second period Emily Ellis cut the Lynx lead to two goals and was assisted by Mila Fons.
-Both Ellis and Letts scored a goal.
-Fons had the only DU assist.
-Salo got the not to start in net and recorded 69 saves during the three periods. 

UP NEXT
Davenport will compete in the UMASS Invitational next weekend in Hadley, Mass. They will play Penn State on Friday, the University of Rhode Island on Saturday and the University of Massachusetts on Sunday.
