GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Davenport has shown steady growth as the season has progressed and have been living on the edge during the last two weeks. One outcome was good in a victory over McKendree and last week it was a narrow 33-30 double overtime loss at Northwood. The last two contests have both went into double overtime, which is a rare occasion in college football. The team trailed 21-0 versus the Timberwolves and then staged an epic comeback to take a 27-24 lead with 26 seconds left. Northwood and DU both kicked field goals in the first overtime, then Northwood won it on a field goal after getting an interception on DU's drive in the second extra session.
Brian Williams was named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week for Davenport setting a school record with three interceptions. He also had six tackles including two for loss.
Haiden Majewski accounted for four touchdowns (2 passing, 2 rushing) all in the second half for the Panthers. Michigan Tech is looking to rebound from a three-game losing skid. The Huskies dropped a 20-14 game last Saturday on homecoming against Wayne State. The Warriors outscored MTU, 11-0, in the second half and took the lead for good with 7:33 left in the third quarter. The Huskies were led by Jake Brown's 125 passing yards and John Williams' 76 rushing yards and a score.
