HOW IT HAPPENED
Davenport struck first in this game with a goal by
Alayna Hilgendorf on an individual effort.
Alice Linsell passed a ball up towards a streaking Hilgendorft and she met a defender at the ball, she overpowered the defender and took control of the ball in the box. She struck a shot to the left side of the net and hit the inside of the post and the ball bounced into the net. About 14 minutes later Tiffin got called for a foul and Prout lined up to take the free kick from about 30 yards out. The wind was going from east to west across the width of the field and that played a huge factor in Prout's shot. She hit a ball just left of the net and the wind carried it right into the left upper 90 of the net for the Panthers second goal of the game. Davenport played stellar defense and only had one slip up during the end of the half. Tiffin got free down the right side of the field and took advantage of the wind going towards the net. The Dragon player shot the ball from about 35 yards out and it carried over
Lorrin McCarty into the corner of the net.
Tiffin gained momentum during the second half of the game. After a couple questionable calls by the ref Tiffin was awarded a penalty kick at the 52:55 mark. The Dragons scored the penalty kick and shortly after coach
Chris Allen was given a yellow card. The Panthers weren't as aggressive on the offensive side of the ball in the second half as they were in the first half. Following the goal by Tiffin the Panthers recorded only one shot on goal for the remainder of regulation play. Tiffin was given a yellow card late in the game after numerous whistles were blown to give Davenport free kicks.
In the overtime period Davenport got the first offensive opportunity.
Lacey Chanady hit a shot from about 30 yards out that the keeper was able to save. A couple minutes later Tiffin got the ball into the box and struck a shot at the goal. McCarty stopped the ball, but the ball bounced around the box for a couple seconds and Tiffin touched the ball into the net.
