Both games against Aquinas College went into overtime and Davenport defended their home ice

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Davenport and Aquinas battled it out over the weekend. Both of the games needed overtime to determine a winner and whatever team was hosting that game came out victorious. The scores were very similar for both games as well, with the winning team scoring their 5th goal in the overtime period. Davenport won Sunday's matchup 5-4 after a game winner by Jaiden Forrest.
 
Game 1 (Saturday, November 11)
Final Score: Davenport 4, Aquinas College 5
Location: Grand Rapids, Mich.
Records: Davenport 3-8, Aquinas 3-5

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Aquinas College jumped out to a 3-1 lead during the first period. The Saints scored the first goal of the game and then Courtney Mulligan responded with a goal just over a minute after the Saints. Her goal tied the game at 1-1 just five minute into the game. The Saints scored two more goals before the period was completed to take a 3-1 lead into the second period.
-Davenport had a solid second period, cutting the Saints lead down to just one goal. Aquinas increased their lead to three goals after an early goal in the period. Again, Mulligan responded to cut the lead down to two goals. Later on in the period Emily Ellis scored a goal, assisted by Dawn Salo.
-Heading into the final period Davenport was down one goal and needed a score to tie the game. Forrest scored the game tying goal early in the third period, giving DU a chance to score again and take the lead. Neither team scored during the remaining 17 minutes of the final period and the game went into overtime.
-Aquinas scored in the overtime period for the win.
-Mulligan scored twice.
-Ellis assisted on two goals.
-Julia Gaynor played 20 minutes in net and had 11 saves, while Salo played 34:43 in net and had 23 saves.
 
Game 2 (Sunday, November 12)
Final Score: Davenport 5, Aquinas College 4
Location: Grand Rapids, Mich.
Records: Davenport 4-8, Aquinas 3-6

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Davenport struck first in the opening period. Mulligan netted a goal, assisted by Zoie Amatore. Aquinas responded with two goals of their own and Davenport was down one goal after the first period.
-The Panthers dominated the second period, scoring two unanswered goals and shutting out the Saints. Forrest scored the first goal of the period and tied the game 2-2. Shortly after Lexie Boydston netted a goal to give DU a one goal lead after two periods of play.
-During the third period Davenport increased their lead to two goals after Mulligan scored her second goal of the game. Aquinas scored two goals down the stretch to tie the game at 4-4 and force overtime.
-The overtime period went the Panthers way this game as Forrest scored the game winning goal just a few minutes into the period. She was assisted by Ellis and Mila Fons.
-Mulligan and Forrest each had two goals.
-Ellis led the way with two assists.
 
UP NEXT
Davenport only has one game remaining for the month of November. On Saturday, November 18 the Panthers host Adrian College at 8:30 pm. The game will be played at the Patterson Ice Center.
