PUEBLO, Colo. - The Davenport women's basketball team slipped to 1-3 overall with a 62-55 loss to Westminster (UT) on Friday afternoon at the first game of the Al Kaly Shrine Classic hosted by Colorado State-Pueblo. Davenport could not recover from a slow start scoring just seven points in the first quarter and trailed for most of the contest. DU shot 6-of-26 in the first half and 14-of-29 in the second half.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Davenport scored the first five points as
Kelsey Crockett hit a three-pointer and
Kortney Deurloo added a basket at the 5:53 mark.
-Westminster went on a 10-4 run over the next five minutes and closed out the first quarter with a 12-7 lead.
-The Griffins led by nine points on five different occasions and took a 12-point lead at 26-14 with 1:06 left until halftime.
-Davenport came out strong in the third quarter and used a 17-6 run to get within one at 32-31 with 5:44 left in the quarter.
-The Panthers were within one point on three occasions in the quarter but Westminster closed out the quarter on an 8-0 run to lead 46-37.
-Davenport did not go without a fight using an 8-0 run to trail 49-47 with 4:47 left in the game. DU was within one possession three different times in the final 3:08, but could not gain a lead or tie the game.

Emily Severn scored a team-high 20 points going 7-of-10 from the floor and 3-of-4 at the foul line.

Kelsey Crockett was the other player in double figures with 10 points going 2-of-3 behind the arc.
-Davenport shot 8-of-10 at the free throw line including 4-of-4 in the second half.
-Hunter Krebs had a double-double for Westminster with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
-Westminster went 23-of-51 from the floor including 6-of-17 from the arc. The Griffins also got 17 points and four assists from Kaylee Carlsen.

-The Panthers have a big test as they play No. 5 CSU-Pueblo on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. ET. The two teams will be meeting for the first time.
