Panthers wrestle at the Indiana Tech duals

DU picked up one dual win over Hannibal-LaGrange

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Davenport wrestling team took part in their first dual meets of the season on Saturday (Dec. 9) at Indiana Tech. The Panthers were involved in four separate duals on the day and went 1-3 in those duals with a 40-12 win over Hannibal-LaGrange. The team also was defeated by Indiana Tech (35-13), Marian (37-6) and Campbellsville (28-12). The duals partnered the Panthers up with former NAIA schools. Indiana Tech is ranked No. 3, CampbellsvilleĀ is ranked No. 11 and Marian is receiving votes.

Dual No. 1
Indiana Tech 35, Davenport 13
-The Warriors got off to a red-hot start as the first four wrestlers earned a pin. The first three matches all ended in under a minute. Davenport got on the board at 174 pounds as Sam Greco won a major decision (12-4) over Kolby Ferris. Kyle Nixon followed at 184 pounds with a 12-7 decision over Zach Davis. Manny HaddadĀ at 285 pounds earned all six points with a pin at 2:02 over Eric Ousley.

Dual No. 2
CampbellsvilleĀ 28, Davenport 12
-Davenport struck first at 125 pounds as Caleb BraleyĀ won by walkover forfeit. Jordan RinglerĀ at 141 pounds won three points with a 6-4 decision over Tombola SindiheburaĀ to give DU a 9-4 lead. Campbellsville then took points in the next six matches before HaddadĀ got another win at 285 pounds by a 7-1 count over Hunter Hancock.

Dual No. 3
Davenport 40, Hannibal-LaGrange 12
-Davenport received 24 points right off the start as forfeiture occurred in the first four matches. Cole MenckĀ at 157 pounds took to the mat and won by pin at 2:08 over Joshua Nidever. Brandon Dyke followed that up at 165 pounds with a pin at 3:00 over Tramel Harrel. Hannibal-LaGrange would finish with wins in three of the last four matches but Nixon at 184 pounds did win by major decision (15-6) over Austin Hawes.

Dual No. 4
Marian (Ind.) 37, Davenport 6
-The Panthers earned three points in two different matches. Cody Orcutt won 13-10 at 133 pounds and Ringler won 9-4 at 141 pounds. Marian won the final seven matches to win going away.
