Davenport takes down second top five team on the year after defeating Lawrence Tech 21-18

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Davenport continued their great play against top notch opponents with their 21-18 victory over Lawrence Tech University. The Blue Devils are currently ranked number two in the NAIA National Poll and were un-defeated coming into the game. The Panthers have now handed two un-defeated team their first loss of the season, Indiana Tech and Lawrence Tech. Davenport remains undefeated (6-0) in conference play after the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Davenport got started off on the right note during this game as Brooke Knoll scored the opening goal of the game. The Blue Devils responded with three goals of their own and the Panthers were down two goals early. Lawrence Tech held the lead for the majority of the first period as they countered time and time again to the Panthers goals. Davenport finally regained the lead with 5:26 remaining after a goal by Knoll. Lawrence Tech scored a couple goals over the next few minutes and had a one goal lead with 1:21 left in the period. Jessica Lemcke scored a goal with 53 seconds remaining to tie the game.
 
The Panthers got a fantastic start to the second period by scoring five un-answered goals. Lemcke led the way for DU scoring three of those five goals. Davenport did a great job of sustaining their lead for the remainder of the game. Never letting the Blue Devils score more than three un-answered goals during the period. Knoll and Lemcke combined for nine of the Panthers 13 goals in the second period, the duo was unstoppable yet again.
 
Tara Pluger hit a career milestone today after her two goal and five assist performance. Pluger is only the fifth player in school history to surpass 200 career points. She currently has 98 goals and 105 assists to equal 203 points.
