Panthers Kick Off against Concordia on Thursday Night

DU begins their second season of football against NAIA opponent

NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
- The Davenport football program enters its second year on the gridiron after posting a 6-5 record in 2016 as a NAIA independent member. The Panthers will be joining NCAA Division II and the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in 2017 and will play a nine-game schedule in one of the elite conferences in the nation in NCAA Division II. The program also saw a change at the top as Sparky McEwen took over the head coaching duties on February 16.

SERIES NOTES
- This will be the first meeting between Davenport and Concordia. The Cardinals will be the only NAIA team on Davenport's schedule this season and both school's were members of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference in numerous other sports prior to DU's move to NCAA Division II and the GLIAC. Concordia is a member of the Mid-States Football Association and posted a 7-4 record a year ago. The Cardinals won three of their last four games to end the season. Davenport finished 6-5 in their first year of competition with four of those wins coming at home.
