MIDLAND, Mich. - The Davenport Panthers opened their 2017 season in Midland, Michigan against the Timberwolves of Northwood University. It was a tough day for the Panthers against a Timberwolves team who went 21-3 overall and an undefeated 11-0 in conference play last season.
In the doubles
Steph Ritson and
Adeline Nelson fell 8-3 in the first doubles spot.
Terin Everse and
Bridget Barrett had the closest match of the day, losing 8-5 in the second doubles slot. Davenport forfeited their third doubles match due to lack of able players.
In the singles Davenport had a tough time winning games. Ritson was in the first singles spot and lost 6-0 and 6-1. Nelson played in the second singles slot and lost 6-0 and 6-0. Everse put up the best fight in singles, losing 6-2 and 6-2 in the third singles. Barrett rounded out the singles competitors for DU in the fourth slot and lost 6-0 and 6-2.
