HOW IT HAPPENED
Davenport got on the board quickly in the first half. Bennett controlled a pass from
Madeleine Zayan and blasted one from distance into the left side of the net. This was Bennett's second goal of the season and proved to be the game-winning goal later on. Only one other time during the half did Davenport get a shot on target.
Alex Prout recorded the shot on goal just 24 seconds after the goal by Bennett.
The Panthers provided pressure on the offensive end early in the second half. Zayan and
Katherine Steiner both recorded shots on net, then later on
Ashlyn Skidmore had a shot on goal as well. Davenport netted a security goal in the 75
th minute. Shortly after a corner kick
Katlyn Varney found the back of the net to give the Panthers a two goal cushion. Davenport hung on to the lead down the stretch for the conference road victory.
COACHES CORNER
Assistant Coach
Paige Eli was in charge of the team for the day as Head Coach
Chris Allen was back home with his new born baby. Coach Eli had the following to say about the game today. "After a tough loss off a great performance on Friday, the team entered today's game determined to get our first GLIAC win for the season. PNW came out strong in the first half and gave us a tough battle. We came out much strong in the second half, taking better care of the ball and created some good opportunities going forward. Moving forward we still have some improvements to make, but overall happy with the result today".
