KENOSHA, Wis. – The Panthers regular-season, which began back on August 24 in the Oredigger Volleyball Classic, officially came to a close tonight. Davenport traveled to Wisconsin to play Parkside and pulled out a 3-2 win over the Rangers. The win gives Davenport a three-game win streak heading into the GLIAC Tournament. Over the 16 conference games the Panthers went 9-7, earning them the sixth seed in the GLIAC Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SET SCORES: 20-25, 25-23, 25-13, 23-25, 15-10
Davenport had to fight from behind after the set, which saw the ball bounce the Rangers way. The set was within a couple points for the majority of the time, up until the 28
th point. Davenport trailed 14-13 after a kill by
Ashley VanderHorst, then Parkside four of the next five to build a four-point lead. The Rangers went another run by scoring four of the following six points, giving them a 22-16 lead. Parkside closed out the set and took a 1-0 lead. The second set was an extremely close battle throughout. After 32 points the set was tied 16-16, then Davenport made a move. The Panthers racked up five unanswered points to take a 21-16 lead. The lead was jeopardized late for Davenport when they only led 24-23, a kill by VanderHorst closed the set and created a 1-1 tie.
The pivotal third set was up for grabs and Davenport snatched it up quickly. The Panthers used momentum from winning the second set into the third set and built up a 9-4 lead after a kill by
Jessica Marvin. VanderHorst subbed into the match and Davenport scored six of the next eight points, building up a 15-6 lead over Parkside. A five-point run late in the set by Davenport all but guaranteed a win. The Panthers led 24-11 after the five-point run and the set-winning kill belonged to
Sami White, assisted by
Jenna Asper. The fourth set was a must win for the Rangers and they pulled out a 25-23 win to force a fifth set.
The fifth and final set was interesting. The Panthers trailed 8-5 after back to back points by the Rangers, forcing Head Coach
Megan Lenhart to take a timeout. Following the timeout Davenport scored nine of the next 10 points, forcing Parkside into two timeouts during the stretch. The match-winning kill was cranked home by
Jenn Kay Vander Meer, assisted by

UP NEXT
Now that the regular-season has come to an end the Panthers look ahead to the GLIAC Tournament. The Panthers will face Ashland University in the GLIAC Quarterfinals on Wednesday, November 7. The time is yet to be determined for the match.
