How It Happened
The first period for the Panthers has been the worse of the two periods in the game throughout the season. Davenport got off to a slow start against the Bearcats and paid for that in the first period. The Bearcats scored three unanswered in the first before Aaliyah Miller got the Panthers on the board with 21:54 left in the period. Following Miller's goal McKendree scored nine straight to build their lead to 11. Davenport trailed 13-5 after the conclusion of the first period.

The Panthers refused to give up in the second period, opening the period with two straight goals to cut the lead down to only six goals. Kenzie Warren and Ryann Deuel were responsible for the two DU goals. McKendree went on a quick four goal run to bring their lead back to double digits. Davenport scored three of the next four goals in the game and the lead was cut to single digits again. The Bearcats ended the game scoring five unanswered.
