GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - For the first time in the brief history of Davenport football, the Panthers will open the season on the road at Robert Morris on Saturday, September 1. That might be a blessing in disguise as the Panthers have dropped the previous two season openers at home against Taylor (2016) and Concordia (2017). The team is playing their third straight NAIA opponent to begin the season, but this time will make the 210-mile trek to Arlington Heights, Illinois to battle against the Eagles at Morris Field. This will be the first meeting between the two schools and it is the second game of the season for the Eagles. Robert Morris opened their season against back-to-back NAIA National Champion and current No. 1 Saint Francis (IN) on August 25 and suffered a 42-9 setback against the Cougars on the road in Fort Wayne. DU will be playing three of their first four games on the road this season under second-year head coach
Sparky McEwen.
