SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The weather was perfect on Friday evening and the Panthers record remained perfect (2-0) as well with a resounding 48-7 win at Notre Dame. The afternoon started off interestingly as the team's bus did not arrive on time and the team had to hustle to the Fighting Irish campus. That did not seem to affect the Panthers as they struck early in the third minute of the match after an Irish turnover.
DU scored again three minutes later on a counter-attack but the conversion was missed for a 12-0 score. It took about 23 more minutes before the Panthers added another score on a kick for three points and a 15-0 advantage.
Notre Dame attempted a clearance kick at 35 minutes into the match but it did not find space as DU raced the other way and a conversion made it 22-0. The Panthers took that lead into halftime and put it on cruise control in the second half. DU struck at 42 minutes and again at 45 minutes to build a 34-0 lead. DU then intercepted a pass and went the distance from their own end for a 41-0 lead around 48 minutes. The Irish got on the board at 53 minutes as Sam Bishop dove in for a score and Drew Corr added the conversion. DU put one more try on the scoreboard for the final of 48-7 after a made conversion.
